Paul-Colour.jpg

Director & Programme Lead I have worked with young people and families for 22 years which has included working in High Schools, youth centres, The Reboot programme and the WSCC early help team. I enjoy supporting young people and helping them build on existing strengths as well as providing new opportunities. My role at the Sid Youth consists of many different parts. I am a director but get involved in many parts of the delivery of services we offer. I enjoy supporting all young people but have found a particular interest in supporting those young people at risk of exploitation. Setting up The Sid Youth has given us a real creative license to offer a wide range of support for young people and I would say we work in both a pro-active and re-active way so that the needs of young people are met. In my free time I like to watch all football, Netflix, playing sports, and a bit of gaming. I like to try new things and like to take a challenge on!

Director & Programme Lead I have lived and worked in the local area my whole life and want to help shape the future of what support to young people and families look like. I am involved in the development and delivery of all of the projects currently offered by The Sid Youth. Over the past 17 years I have worked in a variety roles all related to children, young people and families. This includes Managing a near-to-school provision for students at risk of exclusion from mainstream school, Pastoral leader in a local mainstream high school, Youth worker for both local government and voluntary sector, Residential childcare officer in open and secure settings, Complex high-risk case manager, Leaving-care personal advisor, and more recently as a REBOOT Youth Coach. During my career I have also spent time working abroad as a camp counsellor in the USA and volunteering to take UK students on overseas trips to support localised projects in India, Uganda and Malawi. This provided those students with life-changing experiences that will stay with them forever and shape not only who they are, but also who they will become in the future. This varied set of roles has allowed for several professional development opportunities alongside personal growth that has helped me to develop into the worker I am today. I have played a major role in creating content for one-to-one and group work programmes that have been used across the county. I have spent the whole of my working life supporting children, young people and families. Many of whom had been identified as having complex needs, displayed challenging behaviour or needed advice and guidance to make positive changes moving forward. My motivation comes from a passionate belief that there are positives in everyone. Not all young people conform to societal norms and starting The Sid Youth now gives me flexibility in the approaches used to help those that need a bit more support in finding what’s there inside them.

Youth Employability Lead I have been at the Sid since January 2023 When I am not working I have always enjoyed playing sport competitively and have played cricket and golf since I was young. I like to keep creative and enjoy producing documentaries and recording podcasts when I can. My other main interests are cooking, baking and eating! Growing up in today's society seems to throw more challenges at young people than ever before. I believe that each young person is a product of their circumstance whether this is through choice or not. I enjoy working with young people to ensure they feel supported and empowered to make positive, sustainable change in a way that works for them.

Programme WorkerI have been working with Sid Youth for 3 Years as a Programme Worker, I love how the company and team has grown over this short space of time. I have been involved with developing some of the diverse and creative programmes on offer. My career working with young people and their families spans over 20 years. During this time I met and worked alongside Paul, Ryan and Jack and share their enthusiasm, vision, and passion in supporting young people from the local and surrounding areas. My career really started when I was working in a therapeutic residential unit for young people who had complex needs due to their life experiences. This involved building trusting relationships to develop their confidence and enable them to create positive changes and strive for personal goals and achievements. I personally also learnt a lot from these young people, and they inspired me to want to help families at the earliest point. I then joined a Family Centre team, where we developed programme days to support families and co designed groups such as a Self Esteem group for girls. Later I joined the Family Intervention Project team where just over 10 years ago I met Paul and Ryan. Working directly with young people in dynamic ways is where I feel positive change can really stem from and I love the way Sid Youth works in creative ways. Outside of work I'm a pretty busy person, I love the outside, festivals, camping and running. Last year I ran 4 marathons in a month for a charity, this was a personal achievement but one never to be repeated!

Programme Worker I have recently joined the Sid team and am excited for what the future holds. With over 17 years of experience working with and supporting young people, primarily in educational settings, I have held a variety of roles focused on helping a range of students, especially those who find school life challenging. I am passionate about giving young people the best possible opportunities, guiding them along their journeys, and helping them overcome obstacles to achieve success. I believe that developing a positive relationship with young people is vital to their success, and it's something I actively strive to do. Outside of work, I have always been a keen sportsman, enjoying a wide range of sports. My main passion is football, and I’ve had the privilege of playing for teams such as Brighton and Hove Albion, Worthing, and Horsham. Over the years, I have also enjoyed being a football coach, a role I’ve held for many years. Coaching allows me to teach valuable life lessons through sport, helping young people build confidence, discipline, and teamwork while pursuing their passions. I am also an avid runner, having completed two marathons, with plans to take on more in the future. In my free time, I love spending time with my family and dog, and I especially enjoy the occasional victory over my son on FIFA!

Programme Worker I am a programme worker and youth club lead for SID youth. After a year of college studying childcare I started my working life completing level 2 and 3 hair dressing apprenticeships before having my children. After a few years of being a mum I decided to go back to work. I had a job within retail and then admin before deciding I wanted to work within schools to help support young people. Before coming to SID youth I worked in a secondary school for 6 years in a variety of support roles. When working within schools I led a team of pastoral support staff. In this role I got to create and deliver targeted interventions to support the young people I worked with. These interventions made a positive impact on the young people and supported them through their time within school. I completed many training courses to better my knowledge which enabled me to do some more targeted support for young people. Some of these courses were mental health first aid, Understanding ADHD, understanding challenging behavior and Adverse childhood experiences. I have been working for SID youth since August 2023 where I was bank staff. I then started as a permanent member of the team from September 2023. In my free time I like to continue doing hair for my friends and family. I also like game nights on the Switch, not that I'm any good at them and also going to see live music. I love working for the company and am passionate about supporting young people!

Programme WorkerI have been working at the SID since January 2022 and have been working with young people for 9+ years in a variety of roles. I came over from the Youth Justice Service where I had the roles of case manager and then reparation officer. Before then I was working in a secondary school as a teaching assistant, cover teacher, alternative provision tutor and behaviour / progress mentor. I also spent a few years working as a family support worker for WSCC. I really enjoy working with young people and trying to give them a platform to succeed no matter what background they come from or what’s going on in their personal lives. My passion for working with young people started when I returned from travelling the USA and didn’t want to go back into bog standard office work. I had a goal to make a difference in a career path I chose and following sports coaching in my education this felt like a natural next step. I like to see the positives in everyone. I strongly believe that behaviours are learned, and most young people are a product of their environment whether they choose that or not. Every young person has the right to be heard, listened to, valued, and supported which is what I set out to do across all of my work at the SID. Some of my work so far at the SID has included 1-1 mentoring, lead on programmes such as our Ripple Effect Knife Crime workshop, Real Talk workshop and Girls only safe space. I have also organised and ran trips as well as worked through our holiday HAF programmes. I am very much looking forward to continuing to develop myself at the SID which will hopefully allow us to continue to grow as an organisation and keep helping young people across our area.
